  2. Hey Julie,

I noticed that you visited BeeHive School and wrote up a great blog post. I’m not sure if you’re aware of the recent developments at BeeHive – but it’s in big trouble right now. Here is an excerpt of a recent e-mail I sent out:

BeeHive school is in danger of being shut down; along with hundreds of other schools in the country that the Ministry of Education has closed. The reason cited for BeeHive was classrooms that are not up-to-code. So now, the need to build the new school is more pressing than ever before.

To learn more about the current state of affairs and recent construction update, please refer to this web-page. It explains how the Ministry of Education has done an inspection of 1228 schools in Malawi and only 228 have passed the inspection leaving almost 60,000 without a school to go to. Read it in Niall’s own words:

Niall Dorey, the headmaster and founder of the school, for the first time every, is urgently asking for help. If BeeHive doesn’t get the funds it needs soon – it could very well be shut down for good. Please take the time to read Niall’s heart felt and humble appeal – his words say it all:

Please refer to our newsletter for more updates about the school:

I was hoping you could help spread the word about BeeHive’s situation through your readership. I’m very worried about BeeHive and if there was ever a time to help the school – it’s now. I was hoping you could write up a blog post urging others to help and to consider creating a link on your blog to our facebook fan page where we are providing regular updates about the school. If you are interested, let me know and I will send you the code to paste into your blog.

Also – if you’re interested in helping on other ways – let me know. Niall could really use all the help he can get right now.

    Warmly,
    Eva

  3. Julie – are you still in Malawi?
